If there’s one thing Greeks are known for, it’s their amazing hospitality. Often offering fresh bread or a shot of the native drink Ouzo free of charge, the locals go out of their way to make you feel at home. Opt for fast food favourites such as KFC and McDonalds or try an authentic alternative and indulge in a gyro – a pitta filled with meat, salad, fries and doused in tzatziki. Laganas has an endless list of eating stops serving all kinds of cuisine, but we highly recommend trying something traditional with restaurants such as Kohili Fish Taverna and Panas serving up the highest quality of food. Look out for favourites like stifado and moussaka or see what fish offerings are up for grabs with swordfish, octopus and prawns all readily available.

Despite its popularity, Laganas Beach is the longest shore on the island which means it never feels overrun by sun-seeking tourists, even during peak season. You’ll find plenty of amenities to ensure a comfortable day on the sand, but don’t be put off by the absence of watersports. As the birthplace of endangered loggerhead turtles, the site is constantly monitored to ensure its kept in tip-top condition. Snorkelling adventures and pedalo boats rides are about as energetic as things get. Aside from its length, the shore is also known for its calm shallow waters ideal for little ones or nervous swimmers.

There’s no denying Laganas’ fun side. Keeping you up all night with loud music spilling out of its bars and clubs, this Greek hotspot has an endless supply of late-night venues scattered along a mile-long strip. The fine expanse of sand will take up most of your days, but you can’t come all the way to Zante without seeing what else is on offer. Whether you decide to go horse riding through its beautiful terrain, dive in its clear waters or take a boat trip to discover its surrounding islands or unique marine life – this evolving resort will leave you wanting more.

Spot turtles from a glass-bottom boat: If you’ve come here with one main focus, to catch a glimpse of the loggerhead turtles, you can’t go wrong with a glass-bottom boat ride. Taking you to Marathonisi, or as it is better known ‘Turtle Island’, this is the best place to spot the endangered species up close. This half-day excursion is a great way to see the island’s natural side with all kinds of marine life living in the waters surrounding the island. During the trip, there’s also numerous opportunities to enter the sea with swimming and snorkelling stops along the way.

Hit the Golden Mile for a night of dancing: Nicknamed the ‘Golden Mile’ for its never-ending string of bars, this impressive strip offers more than 100 different drinking spots to keep you entertained. For younger holidaymakers there’s a calendar packed with weekly events from sandy shindigs to foam-filled venues and Zante’s very own Full Moon Party. As much as there is alot going on for the 18 to 30 crowd, you’ll also come across laid-back terraces and British style pubs perfect for couples and families. A clubbing favourite for over 20 years, Waikiki Club is known for hosting some of the island’s hottest events with grime, urban, hip hop and R&B playing late into the night.
