Pastitsio is a must-eat on your Corfu holiday. This lasagne-like layered pasta dish is full of flavour, and goes well with a side dish of Greek salad. Try pastitsio with a chilled glass of Kakotrygis, a light and fruity white wine produced on the island. Sofrito is another island classic you can’t miss. Made with tender strips of beef sauteed in a white wine sauce, this moreish dish is one you’re sure to come back to before it’s time to go home. Sofrito pairs well with a robust red – ask for Corfu favourite Skopelitis. For an authentic after-dinner dessert, treat yourself to a slice of ladopita cake. This local delicacy made with olive oil, syrup and almonds is moreish and indulgent – perfect with a Greek coffee, or scoop of ice-cream.

Agios Spyridon is surely the most fairy-tale like beach in Greece – this crescent shaped bay with crystalline water sits below the Monastery of Paleokastritsa. Agios Spyridon is ideal for snorkelling, but bring water shoes to walk over the pebbles. Head down the coast to find Agios Gordios, a long strip of sand with shallow water. With gently lapping waves and a backdrop of verdant mountains, Agios Gordios is made for peaceful afternoons on the sand. Nestled on the north coast, the pretty town of Sidari is home to one of Corfu’s most famous beaches. Canal d’Amour features a natural rock tunnel, and it’s said that couples who swim here are destined for marriage. It’s also one of the best places to catch the wonderful Corfu sunset.

Water park: Regularly topping the list of Europe’s best water parks, Aqualand promises maximum fun for the whole family. Home to 36 water slides and 15 adventure pools, there’s something for everyone at this thrilling water world. Take on the might of Black Hole, chill out on the lazy river, or challenge the family to the finish line on the mat racers – the choice is yours.

Pony trekking: This has become popular in Corfu, and you’ll find at least one tour leaving from every major resort town. It’s a great way to see the countryside – explore Corfu’s meadows, valleys and beaches at your own pace. Everyone’s welcome, from beginners to advanced riders.

Glass bottom boat: To experience the magnificent waters around Corfu in style, hop on a glass bottom boat tour. Whether you depart from Corfu Town or Ipsos, you’re guaranteed an amazing up-close view of the colourful marine life – if you’re lucky, you might even spot a sea turtle or two. Tours vary, but most include lunch and a stop off for a snorkel before returning to port.

Kavos: For a full-on night of dance ‘til you drop action, Kavos is the place to be. This southern hotspot attracts a younger crowd to its bar-lined streets in the summer months, where revellers can choose from live music, foam parties, and late night clubs. The party zone in Kavos is compact, so you won’t need to rely on taxis to get to all the best places.

Corfu Town: If you’re after a night out with varied choice, then Corfu Town has you covered. Offering plenty for all tastes, you’ll stumble across jazz clubs, hip hop nights, and even heavy metal bars in the vibrant capital. Sip on sophisticated cocktails at the Liston and head to the harbour for late night lounge bars playing soul, funk, and electronica.

Sidari: In Sidari, you’ll have plenty of options at your disposal when it comes to a top night out. From sports bars with live games to Irish pubs with live music, there’s plenty here to keep everyone entertained after dark. You’ll find tavernas with traditional Greek dancing, and rooftop terrace bars for the best people-watching in town.
